How We Practice Law

An alternative rooted in compassion and trust

At Plant & Co. we offer a thoughtful, client-centered alternative to traditional legal services. Our work is guided by six foundational values:

Compassion

We approach every case with empathy and understanding, recognizing the people and emotions behind each legal issue.

Respect

We honor diverse experiences and identities, treating all clients and families with dignity and fairness.

Clarity

We cut through complexity with straightforward advice, giving you focus and confidence instead of confusion.

Trust

We earn trust by showing up fully, listening carefully, and following through on our commitments.

Integrity

We remain truthful and accountable in every interaction, even when honesty requires difficult conversations.

Community

We strengthen the communities we serve by giving back, speaking up, and staying rooted in shared values.

We strive to reduce conflict, not inflame it. We listen with care, speak with candour, and walk alongside our clients through some of life’s most personal and challenging transitions.

Caroline’s Legal Journey

From 100 Mile House
to the Sunshine Coast

Caroline was called to the bar in 2010 and began her legal career in 100 Mile House, a cowboy town in the BC interior where her love of the outdoors, small-town life, and family law first converged.

In 2014, she relocated to the Sunshine Coast with her family and established her own practice. Today, she is the senior family law practitioner on the lower Coast and the founder of Plant & Co. Law.

Caroline is an accredited family mediator, trained collaborative divorce lawyer, peace circle facilitator, and experienced courtroom advocate.

She holds a law degree from the University of Alberta and has trained in negotiation and mediation through the Justice Institute of BC and the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC.

In 2018–2019, she coordinated Circle of the Child, a multi-disciplinary early intervention program in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside advocating for the rights of vulnerable children. She currently serves as Legal Aid BC duty counsel in Sechelt and Powell River and has volunteered on the boards of the One Straw Society, Educo Adventure School, and the Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre.

“My goal is to help my clients find the perspective, confidence, and communication skills they need to negotiate solutions to their family law problems. I strive to bring warmth, relatability, and levity to my work as a lawyer and I am passionate about minimizing stress and conflict for separated families. Death, divorce, and other major family transitions are among the most challenging and transformative human experiences; I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to support my clients to shape stories that will support them on the path forward.”

"Miryam is extremely organized and was diligent and detail oriented with how she managed the legal requirements for my separation and estate planning. Given the tight timelines inherent to my file, she was always on top of things and helped walk me through the processes, of which I was very unfamiliar with. The entire Plant & Co office and staff including Miryam and Erin show unwavering professionalism and kindness and I was very impressed and would strongly recommend them."
